Meet Tim + Bergen

Meet Tim and his wilderness-loving pup Bergen! This hiking duo hails from southern New Hampshire, but both have found the White Mountain National Forest to be a favorite place in which to escape the wacky and wild, hustle of every day life.

Hiking and roaming forests and mountainous woodlands has allowed Tim’s mind to run wild, slipping deep into thought - the combined art of backwoods navigation and peaceful solitude acting as a solid form of meditation and therapy for the body and mind.

When Tim says without pause, that, the Kilkenny Ridge has to be one of his favorite places to roam; we completely understand the sentiment - its forests contain a peaceful and magical aura which cannot be property described nor understood without traipsing through the moss and lichen covered conifers - as if nature was left alone and allowed to mature at its own pace!

Erik ran into Tim and Bergen while picking their way (bushwhacking) through the trailless Maine woods of Elephant Mountain, where we were all working on the AMC New England Hundred Highest list - 67 peaks topping 4000-feet, with a majority of the remaining peaks featuring merely a herd path at this point, with no marked or maintained trails. Tim and Bergen were an absolute blast to hike and chat with - be sure to give them a wave if you see them on trail!

Although we all know how unpredictable the future can be - Tim would like to make more treks to visit the Adirondacks of New York state with his pup Bergen, to hike, camp and explore what that beautiful Upstate region has to offer.

Utilizing hiking lists as a guidebook of places to explore and roam has allowed both of our friends to strive for, and maintain a healthy, active lifestyle; the lists becoming a series of destinations they might otherwise never think to visit or explore.

Learn to enjoy the hard parts, the discomfort, the experience and the journey!” says Tim, when asked what simple advice he would offer someone just starting out their journey of hiking and exploring mountains - we could not agree more. Words of wisdom, Tim!

Happy Trails, Tim (and Bergen!)
